Welcome to DS Partner, the fleet partner of applications such as Uber, Bolt, and FreeNow.
The history of Uber dates back to 2008 in Paris when Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp found themselves unable to catch a taxi on a snowy evening. They thought that an ideal solution would be an app allowing users to quickly order a ride with just a tap on their phone screen. Since both were looking for ideas for their next ventures at the time, they decided to explore the concept. By the following year, the first version of the app was ready. During tests in New York, it operated with only three cars but proved to be a success, eventually taking the world by storm within a few years.
The service was created in 2013 by a nineteen-year-old computer science student at the University of Tartu, Markus Villig, who started with five thousand euros from his parents. Initially, Villig's goal was to develop an app enabling users to order a traditional taxi in Tallinn. He personally managed the acquisition of new users by visiting taxi stands and encouraging drivers to register. Today, it is a mobile application that connects passengers with the nearest driver based on the location data from the smartphones or tablets of both parties.
FREENOW (formerly mytaxi) is a multimodal urban mobility platform headquartered in Hamburg. It was the world's first app to directly connect passengers with nearby taxi drivers while also enabling mobile payment for rides via the app.
